Pomodoro: Work & Study Timer — Pomodoro timer for Mac and iPhone
Last updated: October 11, 2026
Summary
When you sign in with Apple or Google, your account keeps your focus history, daily goals, and timer settings in sync between your Mac and iPhone. We store only what the app needs for that: your email address, an account identifier, and the focus data you create. We never sell it, never use it for advertising, and never share it with our analytics provider. You can export your data or delete your account at any time from Settings. Separately, the app may send anonymous, privacy-preserving usage analytics so we can improve focus flows.
Data stored on your device
Your timer settings, session preferences, and focus history are saved locally on your Mac or iPhone using standard system storage, so the timer keeps working offline. Each account signed in on a device has its own separate local store. Your sign-in session is kept in the system Keychain. Language, appearance, Launch at Login, notification, and motivation reminder settings stay on each device and are not synced. Focus history content itself is not uploaded to our analytics provider.
When you first sign in on a device that already has focus history, the app asks before moving that history into your account. Until the move is confirmed on our servers, plus 90 days, the app keeps the previous local copy and a local backup file on the device as a safety net, then removes them automatically.
Your account and synced data
If you sign in, we process:
- Contact info: the email address shared by Sign in with Apple (which may be a private relay address via Hide My Email) or Google. We do not request your name.
- Identifiers: an account ID created at sign-in, and a random ID for each install, used only to sync and to identify which device made a change.
- Focus data: completed and deleted focus and break sessions (times, durations, local day and time zone), daily goal targets, your best streak, and the synced settings (session lengths, daily goal, sound, animations, completion sound, celebration animal).
This data is used only to provide sync, history, and account features. It is linked to your account, is not used for tracking, and is not shared with third parties other than the processors below.
Processors and storage location
Account and sync data is stored with Supabase (database and authentication) in the European Union. Sign-in is handled by Apple or Google , depending on the option you choose. Data is encrypted in transit, and access is restricted so each account can read only its own data.
Retention, backups, and deletion
- Your synced data is kept for as long as your account exists.
- Delete account (Settings → Account → Delete account) permanently deletes your account and all synced data from our live database, revokes the app’s Sign in with Apple authorization when one is stored, and removes that account’s data from the device you delete it on. Local copies on your other devices can no longer sync and stay there until you delete the app on those devices, or remove them from the sign-in screen when it offers to.
- Our database provider keeps daily backups for 7 days. Deleted data may remain in those backups until they expire; backups are used only for disaster recovery. We may also keep an encrypted weekly backup for up to 90 days for the same purpose.
- Signing out does not delete anything. Changes that have not synced yet stay on the device until the same account signs in again.
- Analytics records are handled by TelemetryDeck under its retention practices and are not used to restore your focus history.
Export
Settings → Account → Export my data saves a JSON file with your sessions, daily goal targets, synced settings, and account profile. Data that has not been moved into an account yet can also be exported from the sign-in screen.
Analytics
We use TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics service, to understand how the app is used (for example: focus or break sessions started or completed, daily goal changes, settings changes, notification permission results, motivation reminder events, and whether onboarding finished). Signals do not include free-form text, names, emails, or your focus history contents.
TelemetryDeck identifies installs with a hashed device-scoped identifier and may attach non-personal device metadata (such as model, OS version, and locale). This data is used only for analytics, is not linked to your identity by us, and is not used for tracking across other companies’ apps or websites.

App Store updates
If you use “Check for Updates” in Settings, the app may contact Apple to see whether a newer version is available on the App Store.
Launch at Login (Mac)
If you enable Launch at Login in Settings on Mac, the app uses macOS system APIs to register as a login item. This preference is controlled by you and can be disabled at any time.
Notifications and Live Activities (iPhone)
On iPhone, optional local notifications, motivation reminders, and Live Activities help you see when a session ends or gently return to focus. Permission is requested only when you choose to enable those features. Notification content stays on your device.
What we do not do
- No advertising networks
- No sale of personal information
- No access to your contacts, photos, precise location, camera, or microphone for analytics
Children
Pomodoro: Work & Study Timer does not knowingly collect personal information from children beyond what an account needs to sync, as described above. Analytics signals are anonymous and do not include personal content.
